Aaahh...Summer Holidays we love them!  Every Summer has it's own story and the tans will fade but the memories will last forever.  We have put together some highlights and tips on what you can do while you're here to create your own special memories.

    Every Friday evening throughout January enjoy a cocktail while having creative fun with local artisan Rhiannon Simmonds in the surroundings of the Glasshouse. Mexican Lanterns, Basket Weaving and Lino Prints are some of the classes on offer so book now.

    This annual event is a highlight in the local calendar! Celebrate and enjoy local oysters, fine wine, local beer, live entertainment and 30+ artist market stalls set in the beautiful grounds of Cassegrain Winery.  Take along your own picnic rug and settle in for a fun day starting from Midday on Saturday 29 December 2018.

  • Take a peek behind the curtain  
    Find out more about the magic of theatre and take a back of house tour of the  Glasshouse. This special opportunity is a must do for all those interested in performing arts.  Take to the main stage and look out to the auditorium and get an idea of what it is like to have over 600 people looking at you! Tour dates 9, 16 & 23 January and bookings essential.

  • Glasshouse Sprouts Program 
    This program is jam packed with creative art activities for all ages within the Regional Gallery. Classes will help them grow their creativity, learn new skills and make new friends.  Activities are just $7-50 per child. Dates 9, 16 and 23 January. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

  • Experience Virtual Reality @ Glasshouse
  • Experience Virtual Reality  
    Swim with sharks, dangle over cliff edges and rocket through space all from within the Glasshouse! This amazing technology experience is FREE and with thanks to Port Macquarie Hastings Library. From 10am to Midday 22nd -29 January 2019.

    Calling all young budding scientists the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) Workshops will challenge you to think like a Biologist, do hands-on experiments, play fun simulation activity games, investigate how plants respire and explore a rainforest. Suitable for primary school years 3 - 6. Limited dates and sessions check website for more details.

  • Astronomy For Kids
  • Astronomy for Kids   
    Plasma Spheres, Gravity Visualiser, Solar telescopes and other fun activities are all part of the educational fun to be had at Port Macquarie's Astronomical Observatory overlooking Town Beach. Every Friday in January from 10:30am. If the night sky is where you want to gaze they have open nights on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday nights from 7:15pm.

  • Amari Lion Cub @ Billabong Zoo
  • Cuteness Overload 
    Meet Amari the latest bundle of cuteness to arrive at Billabong Zoo.  This sweet little guy arrived into our world in August 2018 and is settling into his surroundings and all the care and attention by his keepers.  He should be making regular appearances as part of the Lion presentations each day after Christmas so be sure to check at the Zoo Reception on arrival and see if he will be stealing your heart.

    If your child loves to fish or is keen to get started, head along to the NSW Fisheries workshop on 17 January.  Its a great couple of hours learning how to fish responsibly in a safe and fun environment and all the gear they need is supplied PLUS a shirt, hat and showbag. Charges apply.

  • Glasshouse Creative Art Space
  • The Regional Art Gallery at the Glasshouse has a special space just for families to do free craft activities all January. Head to the Creative Hub @ Port Central Shopping Centre where classes in Shrink Plastic Key Rings, retro String Art  and other fun workshops are on certain days.

    Make the most of daylight saving with a side order of sunsets. Kick back and enjoy live entertainment with a variety of multicultural cuisines overlooking Town Beach! This family friendly food only market is a popular way to spend a Saturday night and kicks off at 5pm till 9pm. BYO Picnic rugs, chairs, cushions and empty bellies!

    Can it get any more fun than that....well yes if you head to Planet X the new Family Roller Skate and Activity Centre. Take to the state of the art skate floor and enjoy the thrill - skating for all abilities and most sessions have instructors on duty, laser tag skirmish, disco skating on Friday & Saturday nights, arcade games and so much more and its all under the one roof!

  • Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail Fun
  • Take the koala challenge
    Find 60+ hand painted large scale koala sculptures on the Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail, taking you to interesting sites across Port Macquarie, from the hinterland to the sea. This trail is designed to generate a sense of fun and surprise for everyone as you uncover these hand painted sculptures.

  • Koala Hospital
  • Say hello and thank you
    One of the best warm and fuzzy experiences is a visit to the Koala Hospital.  Open 7 days its run by volunteers caring for our iconic marsupials.  There are FREE guided tours during the summer holidays daily at 2.20pm and at 3pm. Hear about the work they do and their special residents, take a walk through their new Koalaseum, make a gold coin donation and say thanks to this amazing facility!
