Time to unwind and relax
The beauty of a relaxing weekend away is that you can chose to do exactly what you want to. Whether it's visiting a winery, taking a scenic coastal walk, visiting a farm-gate or absolutely nothing at all!
Port Macquarie’s winery trail is full of surprises and it all begins just 10 minutes from the beach. Five boutique vineyards offer art galleries, alfresco restaurants, rose gardens and history alongside their Chambourcin. You can meet the wine-makers behind a dynamic wine industry or settle in on the veranda for a long-lunch. Explore more with our Winery Trail Guide.
There is a thriving cafe appetite in Port, where delicious brews, great food, and views to distract, are all part of this favourite culture. Watch the sun-rise with a quinoa breakfast bowl at Salty Crew Kiosk, relax for a lake-side lunch at Abundance Lifestyle and Garden, take a coastal drive to the Camden Haven and enjoy brews with views.
Walks in nature
The stunning 9km Coastal Walk is recognised as one of the best in Australia, by Tourism Australia; walk the easier 3km boardwalk at Sea Acres Rainforest Centre Venture towards Wauchope and take the Rocks Ferry Walk where Jacaranda and Fig trees line the boardwalk along a gorgeous stretch of the upper Hastings River. But if we are seriously going to mention trees then a visit to Old Bottlebutt a 200 year old magic (not so) faraway tree, a grand and ancient red bloodwood in the Burrawan State Forest is a must do.
If you love markets, you're in luck! There are markets on every week - some during the week and others over the weekend. You will find eclectic arts, crafts and the freshest produce. To see which ones are on while you're here, the latest What's On Guidehas a markets listing, so grab a basket and meet the locals.
Time for some pillow talk
You'll be surprised by whats on offer in Port Macquarie. Ocean view penthouses, boutique B&Bs in the hinterland and tree-house retreats set in a rainforest, are just some of the indulgences. Settle into a cozy cabin with valley views or a sophisticated seaside pad with coastal views. With an ideal climate year round, a short break has never been so easy and close.
But wait there's more
Ok, we know that some people when they get away for a couple of days want to see and do as much as they can, and others just like to stop and drop, right?
