For the last two years during one week in October, the Camden Head Pilot Station has been enthusiastically overtaken by a group of fibre devotees who first met as students at a summer weaving workshop in the NSW southern highlands a few years earlier.
The Camden Head area, and in particular the Pilot Station with its old Boat Shed has proven to be the perfect location for the convening of this group of creative people whose focus this year included natural dyeing, weaving and embroidering.
The surrounding beaches and walking trails provides endless inspiration for creativity and contemplation.
With its old timber floors, whitewashed walls, and beautiful sea breezes, this group believes the Boat Shed provides the right ambience in which to be creative and to share knowledge, swap ideas, help, encourage and generally have a ball.
Camden Head Pilot Station occupies a magnificent beachfront site overlooking the Camden Haven Inlet at Dunbogan near LaurIeton.
The accommodation is a fully self-contained 3 bedroom cottage that sleeps up to 6 people (2 queen beds, 2 single beds) with the Boat Shed out the back. Environmental sustainability is integral to the property; it has a discrete waste system and rainwater tanks and active coastcare and bush regeneration programs. It is relatively secluded, with no immediate neighbours, yet only a short drive from all the services you might need on a holiday.
