Kylies Beach is named for Australian author Kylie Tennant who once lived in Laurieton and whose timber hut writers retreat is nearby, along Metcalfes walking track. Kylies Beach campground is set behind the sand dunes and offers car-based campsites as well as caravan and camper trailer camping, so it is a great place for family camping near the beach.
You might find you're sharing the campground with local koalas and yellow-tailed black cockatoos. They like the gum trees, so keep your eyes peeled. Picnic tables are located in a grassed area next to the carpark at the 4WD beach access to Diamond Head, between Diamond Head campground and Kylies Beach campground.
Take a virtual tour of Kylies Beach campground captured with Google Street View Trekker.
