Since completing a fine arts degree at Australian National University majoring in painting (1997) I have continued to paint and draw and exhibit my paintings. The work that I develop is derived from experiences and places where texture and colour can be explored. I flip flop between illustration and lose paint strokes with beaches, lakes and skate parks often as a subject. I have worked in the creative departments of Adult Education as a trainer and assessor for the past 20 years and enjoy working with and around other creative people.
I am intrigued by skate parks and look for skate parks when visiting new places. The shapes, forms and warn surfaces are a challenge to capture in paint. A repeated process of layering pencil and paint; which is then sanded, creates multiple layers of colour replicating the skate parks surface and alludes to the texture and colour of the warn surfaces on the underside of skate boards.
Art will be displayed at Stormriders in Port Central Shopping Centre.
