Each and every year, tens of thousands of people come to Port Macqauarie with one thing on their mind....”I want to see a Koala” - Because after all it is the true Australian Tourist experience isn’t it.

Now in its fourth year and an iconic event for the region the Comboyne Mountain Goat Races are a spectacle not to be missed. The event is the brainchild of local Comboyne brothers, Rod & Michael Fisher, who decided to hatch a plan to raise money for maintenance at the local showground. In a testament to their ability to think outside the square a motorbike camp draft and small dog show were trialled before settling on Mountain Goat Races. The event captured the imagination of locals, providing excitement, adrenalin and a fantastic spectator sport.

Have a stomping good time at Bago Vinyards this Sunday at the “Jazz in the Vineyards” event. Take your picnic rug and soak up the relaxed atmosphere under the vinyard’s jacaranda trees. Listen to the soulful sounds of the jazz band while you sip on some Bago wine, munch on cheese plates or lunch made from locally sourced products.
You’ll be in for an extra special treat this weekend as it coincides with the annual Grape Stomping Championships. Get down and dirty in the public stomping competition where teams of two jump in wooden barrels to see how much juice they can stomp out of 10kg of grapes in 60 seconds. You could see your name added to the grape stomp honour board at the Cellar Door and become part of Bago Vineyard history.
The fun doesn’t stop there, for the first time this year, entry to Jazz in the Vineyards will also cover entry into the largest hedge maze in the southern hemisphere. Challenge your right brain by finding your way through 10,000 square metres of hedges and 2000 metres of pathways in record time.
Keep the kids entertained for hours winding their way through the maze, playing on some unique musical instruments, traversing the series of bridges, boardwalks and climbing the two wooden viewing towers.
So bring along your picnic rugs and umbrellas, pick a spot on the lush rolling lawns and settle in for a great day.
